Shining Your Light

When I was a child my mother encouraged me to make a notebook of quotes where I’d write down inspiring passages from the books I read.

These days it’s easier to find motivational pieces. Videos and pictures, TEDx conferences – with a touch of a button you can find them any time, day or night.

Which is good, because they are more varied and more accessible.

If you suffer from impostor syndrome though, all this explosion of brilliance is intimidating. You may tell yourself:

  • What else could you add when everything has already been said?
  • How could you find such powerful words that will make you remarkable?
  • Why would people listen?

But you forget how often we pass by valuable ideas without being touched by them. How we ignore pertinent advice, until we really “hear” it. How it can take years before we see the bigger picture.

We understand a life changing truth when we’re ready for it.

Marianne Williamson said:

“As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

We all have an inspiring story to tell.

So share yours, because surely there is somebody out there who needs to hear it.

Someone who’s ready for it.
